Penrith Panthers enforcer Moses Leota has delivered a blunt assessment of his side’s recent performance, admitting the reigning premiers “didn’t do the job” in their shock defeat to the Newcastle Knights.
With several key players sidelined due to State of Origin duties, the Panthers looked out of sorts, and Leota didn’t sugar-coat the result.
> “We didn’t do the job – plain and simple,” Leota said. “We’ve got standards no matter who’s out, and we didn’t meet them.”
But with a blockbuster clash against the New Zealand Warriors looming, Leota is demanding a major turnaround – and has pinpointed a key area his team must fix if they are to spring a massive upset.
> “It starts with our defence. We’ve built our success on effort and discipline, and that dropped off. If we don’t tighten that up, the Warriors will roll us.”
The Panthers face a red-hot Warriors outfit this weekend, and with Origin disruptions still lingering, Leota’s leadership and honesty could be the spark Penrith need to get back on track.
Panthers vs Warriors – This Weekend
