‘Ready to Go’: Barnett’s Vow Amid Four-Club, $2 Million Bidding War

One of the NRL’s most in-demand forwards has broken his silence as a fierce contract battle heats up.

Jackson Barnett has declared he’s “ready to go” as reports emerge of a four-club bidding war worth close to $2 million, with several teams eager to secure the powerful forward’s services.

Barnett’s blend of aggression, durability and versatility has made him one of the most attractive options on the player market. Capable of playing both on the edge and through the middle, he offers the kind of work rate and physicality clubs covet heading into a demanding NRL season.

Why Clubs Are Circling

Recruitment managers see Barnett as a player who can immediately strengthen a forward rotation while also bringing experience and leadership.

Across his career, the hard-running back-rower has built a reputation for:

  • Relentless defensive effort
  • Strong line-running close to the ruck
  • The ability to shift between edge and middle roles

That flexibility is a major reason multiple clubs are prepared to invest heavily in the 29-year-old.

Barnett’s Focus

Despite the growing speculation around his future, Barnett insists his focus remains on performing.

“I’m ready to go wherever the opportunity is right,” he said. “Right now it’s about playing good footy and letting everything else take care of itself.”

Players in Barnett’s position often attract late offers as teams reshape their salary caps, and the forward market can move quickly once the first domino falls.

Decision Looming

With four clubs reportedly in the mix and offers climbing toward the $2 million mark across multiple seasons, Barnett’s next move could arrive sooner rather than later.

Wherever he lands, one thing is certain: the club that secures his signature will be getting a forward ready to bring intensity from day one.
