WATCH: New Video Shows Caitlin Clark’s Motivation for Shoving Angel Reese

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, led by new head coach Stephanie White, couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2025 WNBA season, defeating Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky 93-58.

Clark was able to put on a show in front of the sold-out crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, tallying a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Reese, despite the loss, continued her double-double run with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

But the headline of the game wasn’t the Fever’s win, but a minor incident that led to Clark receiving a flagrant foul and a technical for both Reese and Aliyah Boston.

Midway through the third quarter, Reese grabbed an offensive rebound, attempting to go back up for the putback layup. However, Clark was right there to stop her, grabbing the former LSU star to avoid giving up an easy two points and giving her a slight shove, sending Reese to the ground.

Reese took exception to this and proceeded to get up immediately, walking over to Clark with something to say. Boston helped remove the All-WNBA guard from the situation while attempting to hold Reese back.

Both teams were separated from the scene as the officials reviewed the play.

However, Clark may have had some motivation for giving Reese a slight push. A video posted on social media after the game shows what happened just seconds before the incident.

As Reese was going for the rebound, she got away with a push in the back on Fever center Natasha Howard, which nearly sent her to the floor before Howard caught herself. Clark took notice of this immediately and looked toward the officials, pleading for a call. The rest is history.

The reaction to Caitlin Clark’s “flagrant foul” is even more hilarious when you realize Angel Reese shoved somebody in the back with 2 hands to get the rebound. 😭pic.twitter.com/5lPCqjfg1f

After the loss, Reese addressed the exchange with Clark, saying, “Basketball play, refs got it right, move on.” Clark, on the other hand, claimed it was a “take foul.”

The Fever now move to 1-0, facing the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Sky (0-1) will play their next game on Thursday against the New York Liberty.
