South Carolina baseball has 12 high school prospects committed in the class of 2026 per Perfect Game’s recruiting database.

One of the USC pledges, left-handed pitcher Spencer Krasner, committed to the Gamecocks last October. Since that pledge, the talented arm has seen his stock rise even further.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Krasner had been nominated for Diamond Prospect Media’s Player of the Year award.

Krasner joins 11 other high school juniors and seniors on Diamond Prospect Media’s nomination list. At the time of this writing, Diamond Prospect Media had announced just eight of the 12 nominees. The outlet will decide on its Player of the Year with a three-part voting system that includes a multi-round fan vote (South Carolina fans can begin voting for Krasner on Twitter/X on Wednesday morning), a vote from the DPM staff, and a vote from DPM’s scouting director, Mike Maerz. The winner will receive the award on Sunday, May 18th.

Krasner had a huge junior year this spring. The Chaminade Madonna College Prep School standout posted a 9-0 record, 0.95 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, and logged 100 strikeouts while pitching just 59 innings. He also helped lead the Lions to a 24-5-1 record and a district championship this season.

The 6-3 lefty has a fastball that sits in the upper 80s. With his frame and another year of physical development before college, Krasner could be in the 90s before becoming a Gamecock.
