Ian Holloway is set to inform the 13 out-of-contract Swindon Town players of his decision on their future ahead of the final game of the season.
With the season coming to a close against Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday, clubs will soon start releasing their retained lists of which players will be let go ahead of next season.
Holloway has consistently said that he would be using all of the time he has available this season to make his decisions on the players out of contract this summer.
The players awaiting a meeting with the Bristolian will be: Jack Bycroft, Pharrell Johnson, Nnamdi Ofoborh, Paul Glatzel, Sean McGurk, Connor Ripley, Jake Cain, Tariq Uwakwe, Aaron Drinan, Grant Hall, George Cox, Saidou Khan, and Anton Dworzak.
Holloway already hinted that Hall would be moving on this summer to move closer to his home in Brighton, after a second spell dogged by injuries.
The 62-year-old said that all of the players would know whether he wants to keep them ahead of the final game on Saturday.
He said: “That will be done by Saturday. So, that will be today [Thursday] and tomorrow [Friday].
“Some of those conversations are good, some are dreadful. It is the worst thing that you can ever do to tell someone you don’t want them. But it is part of football life. Nobody wants to be somewhere they are not going to play.
“The great thing about being a manager is that you can try and inspire people to feel good and believe in themselves, but the opposite is also there when you say ‘I can’t use you’, but there is always a reason why, and I always tell them that reason.
“They need to go somewhere else where their skillset is needed more than here, and that is how I always end it.”
Holloway added that he would be taking all of the decisions himself without taking input from any non-footballing staff at the club, including the ownership.
He said: “This is the latest I have ever left it, because of where I was, where the club was, and the situation that we were in with the old relegation battle and the previous mode of business that Swindon do.
“I know supporters wait on that and all have their own opinion on it, but to be perfectly honest with you, I can’t take any notice of that as I have to make my own mind up.
“The beautiful thing here is I will have autonomy to do whatever I want with whoever I want with no interference.
“I can’t take that at my age, somebody telling me who is good, and the beautiful thing is that I don’t care what my owner thinks about a player, as I might need them.
“Surely they are paying me for my football knowledge to build a group that needs all sorts of different skillsets.
“If that player looks ugly to them, then I don’t even care, so why would I ask them? They should trust me.”
