Parramatta Eels forward Shaun Lane has officially announced his retirement from the NRL. Despite being contracted until the end of 2026, Lane has decided to step away from playing after struggling with injuries in recent seasons.
Instead, Lane will take on a new role at the club, leading a mental health and wellbeing program to support players off the field. With a strong academic background in health and psychology, Lane hopes to use his experience to guide younger players through the mental challenges of professional sport.
The Eels praised Lane for his leadership and dedication, saying his new role will play a key part in building a healthier, more supportive environment at the club.
