In a major surprise, Broncos star Selwyn Cobbo has signed with the Dolphins for the 2026 NRL season.
The 23-year-old winger will leave Brisbane after the 2025 season to join the Dolphins on a three-year deal worth around $3 million. That’s about $1 million per season, showing how highly the Dolphins rate him.
Cobbo had been a key player for the Broncos, scoring 48 tries in 80 games and playing State of Origin for Queensland. But the Broncos couldn’t afford to keep him, with big-money deals already tied up for other players like Adam Reynolds and Kotoni Staggs.
The Broncos offered Cobbo a much smaller deal — around $300,000 a year — which he turned down.
Broncos Statement:
“Selwyn is a great player and person. We wish him all the best after the 2025 season.”
Dolphins Statement:
“We’re excited to have Selwyn join us. He has huge potential and will be a big part of our future.”
Cobbo will finish the 2025 season with the Broncos before making the move.
