In a move that’s shocked the NRL world, the Parramatta Eels have reportedly signed 16-year-old schoolboy sensation Liam “The Tower” Thompson, a 7-foot-tall second-rower from western Sydney with a perfect tackle rate in local competitions.
Thompson, who plays for the Mount Druitt Maulers under-18s, became a viral sensation last month after a clip of him flattening five players in a single set was shared on social media. Since then, scouts from multiple clubs circled — but it was the Eels who acted fast.
“He’s the next Nathan Hindmarsh,” claimed Eels coach Brad Arthur in an exclusive interview. “Same work ethic, same heart, just… a foot taller.”
Thompson is set to train with the senior squad during the off-season, but fans are already calling for him to debut in 2026. Some have even started a chant: “Tower Power!”
When asked about his future, Liam was humble. “I just want to do my job, hit hard, and bring a trophy back to Parra.”
The NRL has yet to confirm if a 16-year-old can legally body slam grown men on national television — but for now, Eels fans have something big to dream about.
