Parramatta Eels forward Sam Tuivaiti has suffered a grade two medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury to his right knee, sidelining him for several weeks during a crucial stage of the 2025 NRL season.
The injury occurred during a recent training session, with initial assessments confirming damage to the MCL. Following scans and specialist consultation, Tuivaiti was diagnosed with a grade two tear, which typically requires 3–6 weeks of rehabilitation, depending on recovery progress and response to treatment.

The club’s medical staff have already begun a structured rehab program aimed at getting the powerful forward back to full fitness. While surgery is not required, Tuivaiti will be closely monitored in the coming weeks as he works through his recovery plan.
Head Coach Jason Ryles expressed confidence in Tuivaiti’s return, saying:

“Sam’s a tough competitor and a hard worker. We’re confident he’ll bounce back stronger and will be a valuable part of the squad once he’s cleared to return.”
The injury comes as a blow to the Eels’ forward depth, especially with key matches approaching. However, the club remains optimistic about his return before the final rounds of the regular season.
Tuivaiti has shown plenty of promise in his appearances this season, and fans will be eager to see him back on the field as soon as possible.
