Ohio State Buckeyes, Ryan Day Land Good News on Monday

The 2025 college football season did not end the way the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day had hoped it would.

After entering the College Football Playoff as the No. 2 seed in the country, Ohio State quickly saw its hopes of winning a second consecutive national championship go down in flames. In their first playoff matchup against the Miami Hurricanes, the Buckeyes were eliminated by a final score of 24-14.

Despite the disappointing conclusion to what had been another great year, Day and company are focused on rebuilding for the 2026 season.

Quite a few moves were made in the transfer portal to help replace the outgoing talent headed to the 2026 NFL Draft and those who left the program in the portal. Day also has an excellent freshman class on its way to Columbus.

With that being said, Ohio State received some great recruiting news regarding their 2027 class on Monday afternoon.

Ohio State Buckeyes Receive Great Recruiting Update

According to college football insider Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, the Buckeyes have been named a top-six finalist for 2027 four-star cornerback Josiah Molden. He is the brother of current NFL cornerback Elijah Molden.

“NEWS: Four-Star CB Josiah Molden is down to 6 schools, he tells me for @Rivals,” Fawcett wrote on X. “The 6’0 185 CB is ranked as the No. 1 player in Oregon. He’s the younger brother of NFL CB Elijah Molden and the son of former NFL CB Alex Molden.”

Hailing from West Linn, Oregon, Molden is currently ranked as the No. 23 cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class by 247 Sports. He has also been ranked the No. 181 overall player in the nation.

Outside of Ohio State, there are quite a few top-tier programs still pursuing Molden. Those teams are the USC Trojans, Texas Longhorns, Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies, and Miami Hurricanes.

Day and company will have to put in a lot of work to secure his commitment. However, they’ve been given a fighting chance to drastically improve their 2027 class.
