Parramatta Eels head coach Jason Ryles has delivered an important injury update ahead of the team’s next NRL match.
The main news is that young fullback Isaiah Iongi is close to returning from a hand fracture. He has been included in the extended squad and will undergo a fitness test before the weekend.
> “If he’s ready to play, then he’ll play. If not, we’ll give him another week,” Ryles said.
Iongi had surgery after injuring his hand in Round 21 and was expected to miss 4–6 weeks.
Team Tensions Addressed
Ryles also spoke about a recent on-field disagreement between star halfback Mitchell Moses and mid-season recruit Tallyn Da Silva.
> “We dealt with it straight after the game and again in the review,” Ryles explained. “There were good learnings from it.”
The coach made it clear there are no ongoing issues, and the team remains focused and united.
What This Means for the Eels
With Iongi possibly returning and internal issues addressed, the Eels are looking to finish the season strong despite key injuries to players like Maika Sivo, Sam Tuivaiti, and Arthur Miller-Stephen.
