Parramatta Eels star Dylan Brown has shocked fans by announcing that he will be leaving the club at the end of the 2025 NRL season.
The 24-year-old five-eighth has reportedly signed a massive deal with the Newcastle Knights, making it one of the richest contracts in NRL history. While Brown had the option to stay with the Eels until 2031, he has chosen to take a new path.
“I’ve loved my time at the Eels and I’ll always be grateful to the club and fans,” Brown said in a statement. “But I believe it’s time for a fresh start and a new challenge.”
Brown has been a key part of the Eels’ lineup since his debut in 2019. Known for his creativity and strong defence, his departure leaves a big hole in the team’s future plans.
Eels supporters have reacted with mixed emotions—some expressing disappointment, while others wished him well on his next chapter.
With Brown’s exit now confirmed, Parramatta will likely be searching for a new playmaker to pair with Mitchell Moses in the halves for 2026 and beyond.
