It’s been a poor season for the Tigers who have won just six games all year in Super League, however, their most recent will have been the sweetest of those.
Playing in their final home game of the year, they beat rivals Wakefield Trinity 26-22 to put a huge dent in Trin’s play-off hopes, whilst Castleford also jumped up to tenth, for what that’s worth.
They’ll likely slip to eleventh given the fact they end the season with away trips to Wigan Warriors and St Helens, with that Saints game scheduled for Friday 19th September.
St Helens recently confirmed that date is subject to change in line with broadcast selections and league standings, however, Castleford fans might be more excited for the 20th of September anyway following owner Martin Jepson’s latest announcement.
Castleford Tigers owner gives fans reason for excitement
The club shared a video on social media where Jepson addressed the fans, giving a nod to the poor season before explaining that there’s “lots to look forward to” for 2026, especially their upcoming ‘new era’.
That will be launched on Saturday 20th September with the club planning to celebrate their centenary year. It’s unclear what it could be that Jepson is planning for the Tigers but Castleford fans, who haven’t had lots to cheer for, will understandably be excited.
Jepson said: “Hi Cas fans, I just want to thank you for your amazing support on Friday night.
“I know it’s been a tough season but it was great to see so many of you out in force to see us beat Wakefield.
“We’re nearly at the end of the season but we’re already preparing for next year. We’ve announced some new signings and there are more to come.
“We’ve got a new head coach and there’s lots to look forward to but in particular, we want to mark the start of a new era for our upcoming centenary in 2026.
“Keep the 20th of September free in your diary. More announcements to come soon but there are some really exciting announcements to take shape on that day.”
The signings he references have all come from overseas with the count currently standing at four with forward Brock Greacen, playmaker Blake Taafe, and outside backs Mikaele Ravalawa and Semi Valemei all heading to the Jungle in 2026.
One man who could be leaving is centre Sam Wood with Serious About Rugby League revealing that Hull FC have shown an interest in the England international’s services.
