In a major development on the NRL transfer front, Taylan May is reportedly set to reignite his professional rugby league career with the Brisbane Broncos on a $300,000 deal, turning down a strong offer from the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The 23-year-old winger, who last played for the Penrith Panthers, has been out of the NRL spotlight following off-field legal issues that led to his release in 2024. However, with domestic violence charges formally withdrawn earlier this year, May has been cleared to return to the game — and it appears the Broncos have won the race for his signature.
The Rabbitohs were believed to be in advanced talks with May, but the powerful winger has opted to join Brisbane, reportedly citing a fresh start and the opportunity to work under the club’s rising coaching staff as key reasons for the decision.
May, who scored 17 tries in just 30 games during his time with Penrith, is expected to add explosive depth to the Broncos’ backline as they continue their push for finals contention.
His return marks a significant moment in both his personal journey and the Broncos’ roster strategy, with the club hopeful that May can return to his best and become a key part of their attacking arsenal.
