In a significant blow to the Penrith Panthers, rising star Sunia Turuva has officially signed a three-year deal worth approximately $1.3 million with the Wests Tigers, starting in the 2025 NRL season.
The 2023 Dally M Rookie of the Year has been a standout performer for the Panthers, playing a crucial role in their recent premiership campaigns. However, with salary cap pressures mounting and key players like Jarome Luai also departing, Penrith was unable to match the Tigers’ offer.
The Tigers, eager to rebuild and inject spark into their backline, secured the versatile fullback/winger in what many analysts are calling one of the smartest acquisitions of the off-season.
Turuva’s move marks yet another high-profile shift from the reigning premiers, signaling a transitional phase as Penrith looks to restructure its roster for 2025 and beyonds.
