In a late offseason move, the Boston Celtics have signed guard Max Shulga to a two-way contract worth $800,559, sources confirmed Friday.
The 6’4″ Ukrainian-born guard most recently impressed scouts with his versatility and IQ during Summer League play. After going undrafted in 2024, Shulga has steadily built a reputation as a reliable playmaker with a strong shooting touch and solid defensive instincts.
The two-way deal will allow Shulga to split time between the Celtics and their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, giving Boston added backcourt depth as the team eyes another deep playoff run.
Shulga played his college ball at VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) after transferring from Utah State, and he has drawn comparisons to fellow international guards for his poised decision-making and mature game.
This signing continues the Celtics’ strategy of developing under-the-radar talent while maintaining roster flexibility.
