In a major mid-season development, veteran halfback Jackson Hastings is set to make a sensational switch from the Newcastle Knights to the Brisbane Broncos on a multi-year contract reportedly worth $800,000 per season.
Hastings, who has been in and out of the Knights’ starting side this year, is understood to have secured the Broncos’ confidence as a reliable halves partner or long-term replacement for the retiring Adam Reynolds. The move signals Brisbane’s continued intent to fortify their playmaking ranks following recent questions around squad depth and consistency.
Club sources say the deal is all but finalized, with an official announcement expected later this week. Hastings is expected to join the Broncos ahead of the 2026 NRL season, although there is growing speculation that an early release could be negotiated before the current season concludes.
The move would mark Hastings’ return to Queensland after earlier stints in Sydney and the UK Super League, capping off a remarkable turnaround in form and reputation since his return to the NRL.
