In a move that has stunned the NRL world, Brisbane Broncos captain Adam Reynolds has announced his immediate retirement from rugby league, citing personal reasons and “irreconcilable internal issues” within the club.
The shock announcement was made just hours after a closed-door meeting at Red Hill reportedly turned heated, with sources claiming tensions have been building between senior players and coaching staff over the past few weeks.
Reynolds, 35, who was expected to finish the 2025 season before transitioning into a coaching role, addressed teammates this morning in what several insiders described as an “emotional and unexpected farewell.”
> “It’s not how I wanted things to end, but sometimes you’ve got to put yourself and your family first,” Reynolds said in a brief statement released through his management.
Neither head coach Kevin Walters nor Broncos management have officially commented on the situation, but the club is expected to hold a press conference later today.
Fans have flooded social media with shock and disappointment, with many calling for transparency about what really led to the veteran halfback’s sudden exit.
