The 29-year-old forward had featured in every game for the Eels this season when Leigh came calling in April.
Despite barely watching Super League before, Ofahengaue knew straight away it was a move he had to make.

“I rushed over because I knew it was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss”
“It was crazy. Altogether, it was maybe seven days from when I first talked to Lammy,” he told Love Rugby League. “I got the contract signed and had my house packed up within about four days. On the seventh day, I was over here. I rushed over because I knew it was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss.”
Ofahengaue has since slotted in seamlessly at Leigh, scoring five tries in 11 appearances and helping drive a team still finding its rhythm. Lam hailed the former Queensland and Tonga international as “massive” for the group, praising his leadership and on-field presence.
And while the move was sudden, Ofahengaue credits his family’s support for helping him settle.
“If I can turn up to training happy, it’s because I’m settled at home and my wife and my kids are settled. There’s not really a day where I haven’t been happy, and that tells you everything.”
