Former Penrith Panthers fullback Isaiah Iongi has opened up about his uncertain NRL future after being released by the club earlier this year.
At just 21, Iongi was once considered one of the bright prospects in Penrith’s development system. However, after limited first-grade opportunities, the Panthers opted not to renew his contract for the 2026 season—leaving the young player exploring his options.
Speaking to reporters this week, Iongi said he’s determined to keep his NRL dream alive.
> “It’s tough, yeah. But I know what I can bring to a team,” he said. “I’ve just got to stay ready and keep working. I believe there’s still a place for me in the NRL.”
While no new deal has been confirmed, his management is reportedly speaking with rival clubs. A move to the UK Super League has also been floated as a possibility.
For now, Isaiah Iongi remains focused on training and proving he can still be a valuable asset at the top level.
> “Wherever I end up, I just want to prove I belong.”
As the 2026 season approaches, his story will be one to watch in a competitive NRL player market.
