South Sydney Rabbitohs Star Takes Leave From Club for Personal Reasons

A South Sydney Rabbitohs star has taken a temporary leave of absence from the club for personal reasons, with the decision understood to have been made in consultation with coaching staff and club management.

The Rabbitohs confirmed the player will step away from training and club commitments for an indefinite period, placing welfare and personal wellbeing ahead of on-field considerations. The club has indicated it will continue to support the player throughout the process.

No further details have been disclosed, and the Rabbitohs have asked for privacy to be respected as the situation is managed internally.

The timing of the leave comes during a critical phase of the club’s pre-season, but officials have stressed that player wellbeing remains a priority, even as preparations for the upcoming NRL campaign continue.

Those close to the club have downplayed any suggestion of long-term implications, describing the move as precautionary and supportive rather than disruptive. The expectation is that football matters will be addressed once the player is ready to return.

The Rabbitohs have a strong history of prioritising welfare, and this latest decision reflects a broader shift across the NRL toward recognising the pressures faced by elite athletes away from the field.

At this stage, the club is not expected to provide further updates unless circumstances change.
