In a major recruitment win, the Sydney Roosters have reportedly secured the services of young Melbourne Storm playmaker Jonah Pezet for the 2025 NRL season.
The 21-year-old halfback, long touted as one of the league’s most promising young talents, is set to make the switch to Bondi after months of speculation surrounding his future. The Roosters are understood to have tabled a multi-year deal worth up to $770,000, locking in Pezet as part of their long-term spine strategy.
While the Storm were keen to retain Pezet, the lure of a more prominent role in the halves at the Roosters — and the opportunity to work alongside stars like James Tedesco and Joey Manu — is believed to have been a major factor in his decision.

Pezet, who made his NRL debut for Melbourne in 2023, quickly gained attention for his sharp game management, accurate kicking game, and composure under pressure. With veteran halves at the Roosters aging and contract uncertainty surrounding current playmakers, the club has moved early to shore up their future.
The signing further signals the Roosters’ intent to remain at the top of the premiership race, following recent moves to refresh their roster with youth and long-term stability.
