The Penrith Panthers have confirmed the departure of one of their most versatile squad members, with the utility star officially signing a deal with a rival NRL club.

Capable of covering multiple positions across the backline and forward pack, the player has been a valuable asset for the Panthers in recent seasons, often stepping into key roles whenever injuries or representative duties created gaps in the side.

His adaptability and reliability made him a favourite among teammates and fans alike, contributing to Penrith’s depth during their dominant run in the competition.

While the Panthers were keen to retain his services, salary cap pressures and limited opportunities in the starting 17 are understood to have played a major role in his decision to move on. The rival club, meanwhile, has been proactive in strengthening its roster and viewed the signing as a coup, adding both experience and flexibility to their playing group.

Panthers General Manager of Rugby League Matt Cameron acknowledged the player’s contribution to the club, praising his professionalism and commitment.

“He’s been an important part of our system over the past few years,” Cameron said. “Whether he was asked to start, come off the bench, or cover multiple roles, he always delivered. We wish him nothing but the best as he takes on this new chapter in his career.”

The player’s departure highlights the constant balancing act facing top clubs like Penrith, who must manage a roster stacked with representative stars while staying compliant with the salary cap. For the outgoing utility, however, the move represents an opportunity for more consistent first-grade football and a chance to establish himself as a regular starter.

The signing has been welcomed enthusiastically by his new club, which views his experience within a championship-winning system as a major asset for their push up the ladder. His ability to seamlessly slot into different positions will provide the coaching staff with greater tactical flexibility throughout the season.

For Penrith, the loss will be felt in terms of squad depth, but the club remains confident in the development of young talent coming through its pathways. The Panthers’ junior system has consistently produced NRL-ready players, and this latest departure opens the door for another rising star to step into the frame.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on how the utility adapts to his new environment and whether the move helps him cement a permanent spot in first grade. Regardless of the outcome, his contribution to Penrith’s recent success will not be forgotten.
