Parramatta Eels Five-Eighth Agrees to New Deal, Set to Depart Club and NRL

The Parramatta Eels are bracing for a major loss, with their star five-eighth agreeing to terms on a contract that will see him not only leave the club but also exit the NRL altogether.

The announcement marks the end of an era for the Eels, who had hoped to retain the playmaker as a cornerstone of their spine. Instead, the 2025 season will serve as his final campaign in the blue and gold before embarking on a new chapter overseas.

Details of the deal remain under wraps, but reports suggest the lucrative contract is with a club in an international competition, offering both financial security and a fresh challenge away from the Australian game.

Eels officials acknowledged the disappointment but praised the five-eighth’s contribution during his time at the club.

“He’s been an outstanding servant for Parramatta and a key figure in our attack,” an Eels spokesperson said. “While we’re sad to see him go, we understand the opportunity in front of him and wish him nothing but success.”

The departure leaves a significant gap in Parramatta’s halves, with recruitment staff now tasked with finding a replacement capable of guiding the side around the park. Rising talents within the Eels’ system may get a chance to step up, though the club is also expected to explore external options.

For fans, the news comes as bittersweet — while there is disappointment at losing one of the team’s most reliable performers, there is also pride in watching him secure an opportunity on the global stage.

The Eels’ faithful will have one more season to cheer their five-eighth on before he closes the NRL chapter of his career and begins a new journey abroad.
