Packers’ Matt LaFleur Reveals Cryptic Update on Jaire Alexander Situation

The Green Bay Packers are still navigating through what to do with star veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander. After only playing in seven games in each of the last two years, the expectation all offseason long is that Alexander would not be on the team in 2025.

With the free agency frenzy and 2025 NFL draft now over, the odds of Alexander returning for another campaign have improved. However, there is no clear direction.

Alexander, when healthy, is one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Bringing him back would be a no-brainer if the Packers could rely on him to be on the field.

That being said, head coach Matt LaFleur has revealed a brief update on the situation.

LaFleur confirmed that Alexander isn’t participating in voluntary in-person work, but he did also say that the team and he are working on things still.

“I just know we’re trying to work through it,” he said.

Obviously, that update doesn’t share too much. It does send a message that Green Bay is still discussing the idea of bringing him back.

Last season with the Packers, Alexander recorded 16 total tackles to go along with a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes in the seven games he played. Those numbers show how much of an impact he’s still capable of making.

No timetable has been given for any kind of an official update. Alexander remains a major question mark for Green Bay as the 2025 NFL season continues to draw closer.
