Centre-half Matty Pearson spent four years at the John Smith’s Stadium

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman believes it would be “one heck of a coup” for Bradford City if they were to recruit departing Huddersfield Town defender Matty Pearson.
Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon page last week that the Bantams were “in talks to sign” Pearson, who was one of seven first-team players to be released by the Terriers in their retained list last month.
Pearson is leaving Town after four years at the club, with the defender making 135 appearances in all competitions for the Terriers and netting 17 goals.
The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Valley Parade upon their arrival into League One, with the Bantams netting an injury-time goal on the final day of the season to seal automatic promotion from League Two in dramatic circumstances last term.
Pearson is on the lookout for the 10th club of his career, with the defender having made the majority of his appearances across spells with FC Halifax Town, Accrington Stanley, Luton Town and the Terriers
“I think if Bradford City can persuade Matty Pearson to join them, it would be one heck of a coup,” Goodman told Football League World.
“I know he’s 31, but he has been a real stalwart at Huddersfield Town. He’s a big, powerful, goalscoring central defender, with lots and lots of experience.
“I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that he would be a huge asset to Bradford City in their quest to initially establish themselves in League One, and then ultimately kick on from there.”
