Exclusive: Parramatta Eels Poised to Land Teen Sensation Lachlan Galvin in Mid-Season Coup After Rejecting $6M Wests Tigers Deal

The Parramatta Eels are on the verge of pulling off one of the biggest recruitment coups of the NRL season, with 19-year-old playmaking prodigy Lachlan Galvin expected to join the club in a stunning mid-season switch from the Wests Tigers.

Galvin, who has been touted as one of the brightest young talents in the game, has formally rejected a reported $6 million extension offer from the Tigers. According to multiple sources close to the negotiations, Galvin has already expressed his desire to exit the embattled club and is believed to have reached verbal terms with the Eels.

While the move has not yet been officially announced, insiders suggest it could be finalised as soon as the Tigers’ upcoming bye week. The development comes amid mounting pressure within the Tigers’ organisation, with Galvin’s management citing ongoing instability and lack of a clear development pathway as key reasons behind the request for an early release.

The Eels, who are in desperate need of a long-term halves partner for Mitchell Moses, have been quietly working behind the scenes for months to position themselves as Galvin’s preferred destination. Club officials are said to be “extremely confident” that the deal will be sealed before the August 1 transfer deadline.

If the switch is completed, it will mark a major recruitment win for Parramatta, who have faced criticism over their squad management in recent seasons. Galvin’s addition would inject much-needed creativity and youth into their spine, especially with Dylan Brown’s move to Newcastle set for 2026.

The Tigers, meanwhile, are bracing for significant backlash from fans and former players over their inability to retain one of the most promising juniors to emerge from the club’s system in years.

Eels coach Brad Arthur has so far remained tight-lipped about the situation, but when asked about the speculation following Parramatta’s win on Sunday, he simply said:

> “We’re always looking to strengthen our squad for the future — especially with quality young talent. That’s all I’ll say for now.”

Should the deal go through, it could reshape the Eels’ trajectory for seasons to come — and deliver another painful chapter in the Tigers’ ongoing rebuild saga.
