In a major coup for the reigning NRL heavyweights, the Penrith Panthers have officially signed star forward David Fifita on a three-year deal worth $2.55 million.
The move comes after weeks of speculation linking Fifita with several top-tier clubs. The former Titans enforcer has opted to join Ivan Cleary’s side, where he is expected to play a key role in the Panthers’ next phase following the departure of key forwards like James Fisher-Harris.
Fifita, 25, will earn $850,000 per season, making him one of the highest-paid forwards in the NRL. The deal underscores Penrith’s intent to stay at the top despite recent player turnover due to salary-cap pressure.
> “David is an elite talent and a game-changer. We believe his best football is still ahead of him,” said Panthers coach Ivan Cleary in a club statement. “He brings size, speed, and strike power that will complement our squad perfectly.”
Fifita, who debuted for the Broncos and rose to prominence with the Titans, said he was excited to join a premiership-contending system.

The signing is a statement of intent from Penrith, who are looking to refresh their forward pack while maintaining the elite standards that brought them three straight premierships.
