Castleford Tigers are striving for high standards in 2026

Castleford Tigers players have outlined how well they believe pre-season has been going at the club.
Two of the Tigers’ Australian contingent, Joe Stimson and Brock Greacen, believe standards in training have been high and can go a long way to pushing the team further up the standings in 2026.

Stimson, who has been given the number 13 shirt for next season, told the Cas social media sites: “There’s a really good feeling around the group and everyone’s really ripping in.

Castleford Tigers' new centenary shirt has gone on sale with current and ex-players doing the modelling.

“Everyone came back quite fit, which gave us a stepping stone to get into other things, learn new plays and shapes and defensive strategies.

“Everyone’s starting to get the defensive structure, it’s getting quite clear and everyone’s working for each other. There’s going to be a big difference this year.

“Everyone’s come back hungry and wanting to win and I think that’s shown in our training.

“The standard’s getting quite high and everyone’s pushing each other, which is the best thing for us.

“There’s competition for spots so everyone’s got to be at their best every session.”

Stimson’s new teammate Greacen, who will wear the number 14 jersey in his first season with the Tigers, has also been impressed with standards shown in training.

He said: “It’s been good, everything that Ryan Carr’s teaching us, we’re learning heaps every week.

“I think every week that goes by we’re getting closer and closer as a group.

“The standard’s been really good. The leaders are driving it and we’re getting a good culture of everyone competing every day.

“It’s been really high right through from the youngest to the oldest and everybody’s competing on every drill, it’s been good.”

Castleford, meanwhile, have launched their new 2026 centenary away kit.

Inspired by the shirt worn in the club’s legendary Challenge Cup victory in 1969, it aims to honour the past, while embracing the future with a new take on the iconic design.

It is now on sale in store at the OneBore Stadium and at the Oxen store at Junction 32, Glasshoughton.
