Caitlin Clark Involved in Disappointing News After Playing Angel Reese

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever began the 2025 WNBA season with a victory over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

Indiana dominated Chicago from start to finish, capping off its first game of the season with a 93-58 victory.

Caitlin Clark Involved in Disappointing News After Playing Angel Reese

After the game, Clark was set to make a public appearance with Fever head coach Stephanie White.

According to Scott Agness, Clark was scheduled to wave the green flag Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), spurring the start of the lap for racers.

Agness then explained Clark would not be able to attend the event due to a scheduling conflict.

White was instead joined by Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham and Makayla Timpson to wave the green flag at IMS.

While it’s a disappointing update from Agness, given Caitlin Clark’s popularity, Indiana fans should still be excited for the WNBA season.

Clark and the Fever clearly established themselves as WNBA title contenders during the first game of the season. They have one of the deepest rosters in the league, led by Clark, who won Rookie of the Year award and was named a WNBA All-Star starter last season.

Update: Caitlin Clark will not be at IMS today due to a scheduling conflict.

Steph White will be joined by Boston, Cunningham, and Timpson — waving the green flag to begin the practice session at 1pm.

In the win over the Chicago Sky, Caitlin Clark posted 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Her stat line marked the first-ever triple-double by a point guard in a season opener in WNBA history. It was Clark’s third career triple-double.

Clark will look to replicate that success on Tuesday, when the Fever go head-to-head against the Atlanta Dream at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on NBA TV.

The Fever will then play the Dream in Atlanta on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. That game will be on Amazon Prime Video.
