The Brisbane Broncos are on the verge of completing their seventh major signing for the 2026 NRL season, with veteran playmaker Ben Hunt heavily linked to a return to Red Hill.
Multiple sources close to the club have confirmed that negotiations with Hunt are well advanced, and a formal announcement could be made within days. The 34-year-old St George Illawarra Dragons captain has been the subject of ongoing speculation, with Brisbane reportedly keen to add his experience and leadership to a young and evolving squad.
If confirmed, Hunt would join a growing list of players already locked in for 2026 as the Broncos continue to reshape their roster:
Adam Reynolds – Veteran halfback re-signed through the end of 2026
Kotoni Staggs – Powerful centre extended until the end of 2028
Blake Mozer – Promising hooker signed a two-year extension

Hunt began his NRL career with the Broncos in 2009 and played over 180 games for the club before moving to the Dragons in 2018. A return would be seen as a full-circle moment and a major boost to the club’s spine depth, especially as Adam Reynolds nears retirement.
Speaking earlier this week, Broncos coach Kevin Walters remained tight-lipped but hinted that the club was “not done yet” in the recruitment space.
