Brisbane Broncos secure depth and experience with forward’s extension

The Brisbane Broncos have reportedly handed a contract extension to a key member of their forward pack on the eve of the 2025 NRL Grand Final.

While he won’t be playing on Sunday against the Melbourne Storm, that hasn’t stopped Jack Gosiewski from earning a one-year extension, per News Corp.

Granted a release from his contract with the North Queensland Cowboys in the middle of last season to join the Broncos, Gosiewski has taken his game to new heights this year.

Impressing club officials during the pre-season, which saw him edge out Brendan Piakura and Martin Taupau for a starting spot in the Broncos’ side, he has become a key component of their forward pack and has a wealth of experience after beginning his career in 2016.

Playing in over 80 first-grade matches, reports emerged earlier in the year that the club had opened talks with his management in an attempt to retain him for next season, and it seems they have now been finalised.

The re-signing of the Super League-linked forward follows the retention of Corey Jensen, Cory Paix and Ben Talaty in recent weeks as their roster for next season continues to take shape.

“I’m very excited (to sign a New Deal). I’m obviously getting to the end of my career, so it’s good to be finishing off at a club that I really love,” he told the publication.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey. I came here with intentions to be in this position, and I’ve had full faith that the club could get to a grand final, and here we are.

“It is what it is, but it’s tough, it’s hard. Impact injuries are annoying because you think about timing and position and everything like that. It’s frustrating.

“I got myself back into a position to play, but just wasn’t able to push myself into the team.

“I’ve put a lot of focus and sacrifices into this whole year to be in this moment, so if anything happens, I’m ready to go.”
