BREAKING: Why Two Former Eels Still Haven’t Signed in NRL Free Agency

As the 2025 NRL season quickly approaches, fans and experts alike are left wondering why two former Parramatta Eels players are yet to ink their names on new deals despite the ongoing free agency frenzy.

The clock is ticking for Jirah Momoisea and Ray Stone, both key members of the Eels in recent seasons, who are yet to find their next club. Despite their significant contributions to Parramatta’s campaign in previous seasons, questions remain as to why they haven’t secured contracts with other teams.

Jirah Momoisea, a strong back-rower who has shown immense potential at Parramatta, has been in limbo for several months. His tough, no-nonsense playing style made him a valuable asset to the Eels, and many experts expected him to land a new deal by now. However, with the market seemingly flooded with back-rowers, Momoisea’s future remains uncertain.

Ray Stone, a dynamic utility forward who was a fan favourite at the Eels, has also been caught in free agency limbo. Stone’s versatility and energy off the bench were crucial to the Eels’ performance, particularly in their 2022 Grand Final run. His hard-hitting nature and tireless work ethic made him a standout, but with numerous teams already having filled their forward ranks, it seems the competition for his services has been fierce.

Speculation continues about both players’ next moves. Sources close to both Momoisea and Stone suggest that while they may still be in talks with a handful of clubs, the decision is largely based on finding the right fit and opportunities in a crowded market.

Stay tuned as we continue to follow the free agency saga surrounding these two former Eels and whether they’ll find new homes before the season kicks off.
