BREAKING: Righthanded Winger and Multi-Time Member of the Brisbane Broncos Has Announced His Retirement from NRL at 31

In a heartfelt announcement that has taken fans by surprise, Jordan Pereira, a right-handed winger and seasoned campaigner for the Brisbane Broncos, has officially retired from the NRL.

Pereira, 31, stepped away from the game in June 2024 after receiving medical advice related to a serious neck injury. The decision comes following months of discomfort and medical assessments which ultimately deemed it too dangerous for him to continue playing.

The New Zealand-born winger, who made his NRL debut in 2018 with the St. George Illawarra Dragons, joined the Broncos in 2022. Known for his powerful carries, safe hands under the high ball, and relentless work ethic, Pereira made over 45 NRL appearances across his career, the majority of them on the wing.

> “It’s not the way I wanted to finish, but I know it’s the right decision,” Pereira said in a statement. “I’m grateful to the Broncos and everyone who’s supported me throughout my career.”

Broncos head coach Kevin Walters praised Pereira’s professionalism and resilience:

> “Jordan brought passion and consistency every time he took the field. He’s been an asset to the club both on and off the field.”

Fans and former teammates took to social media to share messages of respect and gratitude for Pereira’s contribution to the game. His departure marks yet another major shift in the Broncos’ roster, as the club continues to evolve ahead of the 2026 season.

Though stepping away from the NRL spotlight, Pereira has hinted at a future in mentoring or coaching, continuing his passion for the game in new ways.
