Parramatta Eels head coach Jason Ryles has spoken out following criticism of the team’s lack of attacking spark and predictability during recent games.
After a slow start to the 2025 NRL season, fans and analysts have pointed out that the Eels’ attack has appeared flat and uninspired — a far cry from the dynamic style the club has promised.
In a press conference this week, Ryles addressed the concerns directly.
> “We know it hasn’t been good enough,” he said. “We’re not hiding from it. The fans deserve better, and we’re working hard to turn it around.”
The Eels have struggled to convert opportunities into points, especially with star playmaker Mitchell Moses sidelined due to injury. The disruption in the spine has been a key factor, but Ryles isn’t using that as an excuse.
> “Injuries hurt, sure — but that’s part of the game. We’ve got the talent, and it’s up to us as a group to bring more creativity and cohesion to our attack.”
Ryles, who took over as head coach in 2025, acknowledged the pressure but remained confident in his squad.
> “This group has a lot of potential. We’re not there yet, but we’re building. The fans have every right to expect more — and they will get more.”
The Eels face a crucial few rounds ahead, with the hope that their attack will find rhythm and consistency as Moses nears a return.
