After narrowly missing out on a playoff spot in 2023, the Seattle Mariners are shifting their focus to bolstering their roster for a strong 2024 season. According to multiple sources within the organization, the Mariners are prioritizing the acquisition of a power bat and a veteran starting pitcher during the upcoming offseason.
With ace Robbie Ray set to miss most, if not all, of the 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, the Mariners face a significant gap in their pitching rotation. Sources close to the team indicate that the front office is actively scouting for a reliable arm to join a rotation that already features emerging stars like George Kirby and Logan Gilbert.
Offensively, the Mariners have also identified the need for a power hitter to complement their young core. While players like Julio RodrÃguez and Ty France have provided solid contributions, the Mariners are looking to add a middle-of-the-order slugger to increase their run production.
The team has room in their budget to make a splash, and with the club’s financial backing, expect them to be aggressive in free-agent talks and trade negotiations throughout the offseason.
As the Mariners aim to build a roster capable of breaking their playoff drought, all eyes will be on the upcoming Winter Meetings to see if Seattle can land the pieces needed to make a deep postseason run in 2024.
