“I’ve Signed a Three-Year Deal”: Blaize Talagi Commits to Eels Until 2028

Rising star Blaize Talagi has officially put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with the Parramatta Eels, locking in his future with the club until the end of the 2028 NRL season.

The 19-year-old utility back, considered one of the most exciting young talents in the Eels’ system, confirmed the news today following weeks of speculation about his long-term future.

> “I’ve signed a three-year deal with the club, and I couldn’t be happier,” Talagi told reporters. “Parramatta is home for me. I’ve come through the juniors here and I want to help bring success to this team.”

Talagi, who made his NRL debut earlier this season, has impressed fans and coaches alike with his explosive footwork, strong defensive reads, and ability to slot in at multiple positions, including centre, fullback, and five-eighth.

Eels General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill, welcomed the signing as a major retention win.

> “Blaize is a rare talent. He’s versatile, committed, and has already shown he can handle the pressure of first-grade footy,” O’Neill said. “We’re thrilled to have secured him for the next three years.”

With this deal, the Eels reaffirm their focus on promoting from within, building a strong future around local juniors and development players. Talagi is expected to play an increased role in the top 17 moving forward, with a potential permanent spot in the backline looming as early as next season.

Talagi’s re-signing comes amid strong interest from rival clubs, but the teenager made it clear that his heart was set on staying in blue and gold.

> “There were other offers, yeah — but I always wanted to stay here. The fans, my teammates, the coaches — it all just feels right.”

The Eels currently sit mid-table as they battle for a top-eight finish, but the long-term retention of Talagi signals a bright future ahead for the club.
