With only three rounds left to go in the 2025 AMA Supercross Championship, Chase Sexton’s dominating ride at MetLife Stadium proved that this title race might be decided by a handful of points or even the 450 rider with the most wins (if Sexton and Webb end up tied on points after round 17).
Although Sexton’s win narrowed Webb’s point lead to just 9 points, the inherent problem is that because of the large number of injured top-flight 450 stars on the sidelines, there are not enough good riders to get in between the leading two—which means that unless one of the two crashes or suffers a mechanical issue they are going to earn a 3-point difference after each race.
For example, if Chase Sexton won the next three rounds and Cooper Webb finished second at all three (Pittsburgh, Denver and Salt Lake City) they’d end up tied on points, and the 2025 AMA 450 Championship would go to Chase Sexton based on the most main event wins. However if Sexton doesn’t win all three remaining races and Webb wins even one, then the title will go to Webb based on points.
Meanwhile in the 250 East Championship, Seth Hammaker’s victory in East Rutherford moved him in the 250 East points lead with only two 250 East rounds left and a slim 3 point margin between Hammaker and R.J. Hampshire (with Tom Vialle 7 points back). Anything can happen.
