Bolton Wanderers keen on transfer swoop for Hull City defender Matty Jacob

New Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic wants to clear space in the budget for new signings and the left-back – who started just eight games for the Tigers last season – has been told he is unlikely to feature.

Steven Schumacher needs a specialist left-back, and Bolton are confident they can give Jacob the regular game time that he has been waiting for in the Championship.

Wanderers are progressing on a few fronts in the transfer market and remain in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Crystal Palace’s Owen Goodman, who has been strongly linked with the Whites, hopes to have his next move wrapped up soon after helping Wimbledon to victory in the League Two play-off final.

Speaking before the game at Wembley the 21-year-old said he hoped to know his next destination early in the summer.

“Things have probably already started,” he said. “Any talks that will happen will be after the game (play-off final). It will probably be a few weeks afterwards.

“My agent and everyone else will let me go away, have a little bit of a switch-off mentally and go from there.

“I might get a few rings through it, telling me this and that.”

Meanwhile, Bradley Ibrahim has been officially confirmed as a Plymouth Argyle player, joining the recently relegated club from Hertha Berlin.

The former Arsenal midfielder was linked online with a move to Bolton earlier in the summer but The Bolton News understands no formal approach was made.

Ibrahim becomes managerless Plymouth’s fourth new signing of the window, having spent last season on loan in League One with Crawley Town.
