Selwyn Cobbo to depart Broncos, signing with Dolphins for 2026

Selwyn Cobbo will officially leave the Brisbane Broncos at the end of the 2025 NRL season, with the proud Wakka Wakka man from Cherbourg signing a one-year deal with the Dolphins for 2026.

The 23-year-old has been a key figure for the Broncos since making his debut in 2021, notching up 48 tries across 80 appearances.

Cobbo’s electric pace and finishing ability quickly earned him representative honours, including six State of Origin caps for Queensland and a Test debut for Australia in 2023.
Broncos general manager of football operations Troy Thomson paid tribute to Cobbo’s contribution over five seasons.
“Selwyn is not only a tremendous player, but he is a first-class human being,” he said.

“We look forward to his continued contribution throughout 2025 and wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”

Cobbo’s switch to the Dolphins sees him remain in Queensland, closer to his hometown of Cherbourg.

The move strengthens a fast-rising Dolphins outfit that’s building toward premiership contention under head coach Kristian Woolf.

Dolphins chief executive Terry Reader welcomed the signing, confident Cobbo will thrive in the red and white.
“Selwyn is an accomplished player who’s already done amazing things at both Origin and international level,” he said.

“But we believe he has even more to offer and are excited about what he’ll bring to the Dolphins.”

Cobbo’s versatility across the backline will boost an already star-studded Dolphins back five, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Herbie Farnworth, Jamayne Isaako, Jake Averillo and Jack Bostock.

Cobbo will begin pre-season training with the Dolphins in November following his final year in Broncos colours.
