MLB REPORT: The Mets To Deprive a Rival of a $115 Million Star Free Agent.

The New York Mets are reportedly targeting Jack Flaherty, the free-agent pitcher from the Los Angeles Dodgers, after being eliminated from the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes. With the Mets needing a top starter, James Nolan of FanSided predicts they will sign Flaherty, who is projected to land an $95 million deal, though it could potentially exceed $100 million.

Flaherty, who has experience facing the Mets, dominated them in the 2024 NLCS and played a key role in the Dodgers’ World Series victory. Despite being a top free-agent target, Flaherty’s market hasn’t developed as expected. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal noted that he is seeking a short-term deal with a high average annual value, which could align with the Mets’ needs.

In 2024, Flaherty emerged as one of the best pitchers for the Dodgers, despite sharing the spotlight with Tarik Skubal. If the Mets can secure him without overspending, he could be the perfect addition to their rotation. However, if his price becomes too high, New York may explore trade options for a more cost-effective pitcher.
