Dolphins Fire 1 Former NFL Player From Coaching Staff

This season initially looked like it could’ve been a promising one for the Miami Dolphins after two straight trips to the playoffs, but they instead stumbled to an 8-9 finish and didn’t qualify for the postseason.

Tua Tagovailoa’s third diagnosed concussion of his NFL career obviously was a big setback for their hopes and plans, and now they have to go back to the drawing board.

There have been some rumblings that head coach Mike McDaniel could be on the hot seat, but instead, the team recently fired special teams coordinator Danny Crossman and wide receivers coach/pass game specialist Wes Welker, a five-time Pro Bowler as a player, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Welker is known by fans as a wide receiver on the dynastic New England Patriots teams of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, and during his time with them helped them reach two Super Bowls.

He played for Miami from 2004 to 2006 before the trade that sent him to New England to team up with the legendary quarterback.

He was Miami’s wide receivers coach since 2022, and that stint came after three years as the San Francisco 49ers’ wide receivers coach and a two-year assistant coaching role with the Houston Texans.

The biggest issue the Dolphins have right now is the future of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who made comments following their season finale that sounded tantamount to asking for a trade, and what happens with him could dictate the rest of their offseason.
