Parramatta Eels are delighted to announce the contract extension of representative forward J’maine Hopgood until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Already contracted with the Eels for next year, Hopgood has extended his deal with the club for a further two seasons.

“I love this Club and I appreciate the opportunities the Eels have given me. I can’t wait to put the jersey back on and represent the Blue & Gold,” said Hopgood.

“I feel like I still have so much more to give, I’m committed to this team and to this Club and I’m excited about the future.”

Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill was full of praise for the back rower and spoke highly of what he brings to the club on and off the field.

“We all value J’maine as a player and as a person, he’s a popular teammate and has been one of our most consistent players since joining the Eels last year.

“We are thrilled he has committed to our club, we know what he is capable of and look forward to seeing him reach new heights with us over the coming years.”

Hopgood has established himself as one of the Eels most consistent forwards and was rewarded for his club form with a spot in the QLD Origin team this year.

Prior to his season ending injury in Origin, Hopgood averaged 121 run metres and 37 tackles per game.

A proud Gooreng Gooreng man, Hopgood represented the Indigenous All Stars twice and led the Eels onto the field in celebration of Indigenous Round earlier this year. He grew up in Hervey Bay, Queensland, before relocating to New South Wales as a teenager to pursue his NRL dream.
