Centre Remains Loyal to Panthers, Rejects Parramatta Eels Offer

The Penrith Panthers have landed a crucial retention victory, keeping one of their strike centres despite a determined push from western Sydney rivals, the Parramatta Eels.

Reports suggest Parramatta had tabled a lucrative offer in an attempt to lure the centre across town, with the Eels eager to add strike power to their backline for 2026 and beyond. But in a decisive show of loyalty, the player has opted to remain at the foot of the mountains, committing to the system that developed him.

Panthers’ Winning Formula

Penrith’s ability to hold onto their core roster has been a cornerstone of their recent success. Despite heavy salary-cap pressure, the Panthers have consistently found ways to retain their premier talent, ensuring continuity and culture remain at the heart of their dynasty.

The latest decision further cements that reputation. By rejecting Parramatta’s advances, the centre joins a growing list of stars choosing stability and premiership prospects over potentially larger paydays elsewhere.

Eels Recruitment Setback

For the Eels, the rejection represents a setback in their recruitment strategy. Coach Jason Ryles has made no secret of his desire to add strike outside backs to complement halves Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown, particularly with rival clubs circling Parramatta’s own stars.

Missing out on the Panthers centre will force Parramatta to turn their attention to alternative targets in the player market. With salary-cap space available following high-profile departures, the Eels remain well placed to pursue other marquee signings — but patience will be required.

Loyalty Wins the Day

In the end, Penrith’s culture and sustained on-field success appear to have won out. For the centre in question, the decision reflects both loyalty to the club that nurtured him and belief that the Panthers’ premiership window remains wide open.

For Parramatta, the search continues. For Penrith, it’s another step in keeping their championship core intact.
