The Brisbane Broncos have confirmed that their halfback has been released from his contract, effective immediately, after securing a three-year deal with another NRL club.
In a statement issued this morning, the Broncos thanked the playmaker for his contribution to the club and wished him well in the next chapter of his career.
“We appreciate everything he’s done for the Broncos during his time here,” a club spokesperson said. “He’s been a dedicated professional, and we wish him every success with his new team.”
The halfback’s departure comes as the Broncos prepare for a reshuffle in their spine heading into the 2026 NRL season. The move is expected to open opportunities for emerging talents within the club’s system, with young gun Coby Black and experienced utility Tyson Smoothy among those tipped to compete for a starting spot in pre-season.
While the destination club has yet to make an official announcement, reports suggest the deal is worth in excess of $1.2 million over three years, underscoring the player’s growing value across the competition.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters said the decision, though difficult, was made with both parties’ best interests in mind.
“We’ve got a strong pathway of halves coming through and we’ll continue to back our development system,” Walters said. “We wish him all the best moving forward.”
An official statement from the player’s new club is expected in the coming days.
