Brisbane Broncos Confirm Two More Signings

The Brisbane Broncos have continued their aggressive roster reshaping, announcing two more key signings that further strengthen the club’s outside-back depth heading into 2026.

Rising winger Josiah Karapani has inked a new two-year extension, while versatile outside back Grant Anderson will join the club from the Melbourne Storm.

Karapani Secures His Future at Red Hill

Karapani, one of the Broncos’ standout breakout performers, has been rewarded for his recent form with a contract extension that will keep him in Brisbane until the end of 2027.
The 23-year-old has impressed with his explosive running and finishing ability, scoring four tries in just two NRL appearances this season. Inside the Broncos’ camp, coaches have praised his discipline, work ethic, and ability to slot seamlessly into first grade.

Karapani expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue his development at the club, crediting his teammates and coaches for helping him settle quickly into NRL football. He also highlighted the energy and passion of the Suncorp Stadium crowd as a major motivator.

Grant Anderson Adds Experience and Versatility

Joining Brisbane on a two-year deal from 2026, Anderson brings valuable experience and positional flexibility. Capable of playing wing, centre, or fullback, the 36-game Storm product has built a reputation for reliability, strong yardage carries, and intelligent defensive reads.

In 2025, Anderson has enjoyed one of his strongest seasons to date, crossing for 10 tries in 12 games while averaging over 140 running metres per match. Broncos recruitment staff believe his professionalism and consistency will complement the club’s emerging backline talent.

What the Signings Mean for the Broncos

These back-to-back signings signal Brisbane’s clear intention to refresh and reinforce its outside-back stocks. The combination of Karapani’s youth and Anderson’s experience creates healthy competition for spots as the club prepares its next phase.

However, the decisions have also intensified speculation around the future of star back Selwyn Cobbo. With Karapani rising and Anderson arriving next season, Cobbo’s place in the Broncos’ long-term plans has come under scrutiny. Rival clubs have reportedly expressed interest should he become available.

A Statement of Direction

For the Broncos, the dual signings represent more than simple roster moves—they underline a strategic push to build a balanced and dynamic backline capable of competing consistently at the top of the NRL ladder. With more recruitment decisions expected in the coming months, Brisbane’s 2026 squad is taking shape quickly and confidently.
