Brisbane Broncos have officially locked in one of their brightest young stars, with Selwyn Cobbo signing a two-year contract extension worth a reported $1.6 million, keeping him at Red Hill until the end of the 2027 NRL season.
The 22-year-old winger has been one of the Broncos’ standout performers in recent years, earning State of Origin honours for Queensland and establishing himself as one of the most dangerous outside backs in the game.
Cobbo’s extension comes as a major boost for the club amid rising pressure to retain key players under a tightening salary cap. The deal reportedly includes a significant pay increase, reflecting his growing stature in the game and warding off interest from multiple rival clubs.
> “Selwyn is a special talent. He’s only just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can do in this game,” said Broncos coach Kevin Walters. “We’re thrilled he’ll be part of our club’s future.”
Cobbo has played over 60 games for the Broncos since his debut in 2021, scoring consistently and thrilling fans with his speed, agility, and try-scoring ability. His re-signing is expected to provide stability to the Broncos’ backline and reaffirm their status as a premiership contender in the coming years.
With the futures of other off-contract stars like Kotoni Staggs still unresolved, Cobbo’s decision to commit to the club may influence further retention announcements in the coming months.
