Canberra Raiders utility player Sasagi has spoken openly about the pride he feels representing Samoa, while also embracing the expanding role he is carving out at club level through his versatility.
For Sasagi, pulling on the Samoan jersey remains one of the defining honours of his career. He described international representation as something that carries deep personal and cultural meaning, reinforcing his motivation each time he steps onto the field.

“Representing Samoa means everything,” Sasagi said. “It’s about family, culture, and giving back to the people who’ve supported me from the start.”
At the Raiders, Sasagi’s adaptability has become one of his greatest strengths. Comfortable across multiple positions, he has earned the trust of the coaching staff by filling gaps wherever needed, whether in the backline or closer to the middle.
That flexibility has not gone unnoticed within the club. As Canberra continues to refine its roster balance, Sasagi’s ability to shift roles provides valuable depth and tactical options, particularly during periods of injury or rotation.
Rather than seeing versatility as a challenge, Sasagi views it as an opportunity. He believes being able to contribute in different positions sharpens his understanding of the game and strengthens his value to the squad.
With international pride driving him and club responsibility expanding, Sasagi appears well-placed to play a meaningful role in the Raiders’ plans moving forward — whether that be as a specialist or a dependable utility ready to answer the call.
