Castleford Tigers confirm high-profile exit as Ryan Carr’s shake-up continues

Castleford Tigers have confirmed the early release of playmaker Tex Hoy to “pursue playing opportunities elsewhere.”

The 26-year-old arrived at the Jungle midway through the 2024 Super League season following his release from Hull FC, and went on to make 35 appearances, scoring 13 tries and kicking 20 goals. He had a year remaining on his contract at Castleford.

He will represent a new club next season, as Ryan Carr’s shake-up continues following his arrival as head coach to start a three-year deal.

Tex Hoy has left Castleford Tigers.

Hoy joins the likes of George Griffin, Josh Simm, Sam Wood, Innes Senior, Muizz Mustapha, Josh Hodson, Will Tate and Liam Horne to depart Castleford following the conclusion of the 2025 season.

A club statement read: “Castleford Tigers can confirm that Tex Hoy has been released from the final year of his contract to pursue playing opportunities elsewhere.

“We wish Tex all the best for the future and thank him for his service to Castleford Tigers.”

Meanwhile, director of rugby Chris Chester has been working hard behind the scenes to improve Castleford’s squad for 2026, having finished last campaign second bottom on the table, only ahead of crisis club Salford Red Devils.

Blake Taaffe and Mikaele Ravalawa headline their overseas recruitment from Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons. Brock Greacen (Newcastle Knights), Semi Valemei (North Queensland Cowboys) and Tom Weaver (Gold Coast Titans) have also made the move from Australia, while Jordan Lane, Jack Ashworth, Renouf Atoni, Liam Hood and Darnell McIntosh have all completed Super League switches.

Former Warrington Wolves academy youngster Aiden Doolan also recently penned a two-year deal with the club.
