Eddy Cayless, the son of Parramatta Eels and New Zealand rugby league legend Nathan Cayless, has been named in the Sydney Roosters’ 2026 train-and-trial squad, marking another exciting chapter in the club’s youth pathway.
Cayless is not the only second-generation talent in the group either, with the Roosters’ train-and-trial list featuring multiple sons of former NRL greats, underlining the club’s continued focus on heritage, development, and elite bloodlines.

The inclusion of Eddy Cayless highlights the Roosters’ commitment to identifying and nurturing emerging talent, while giving young players the opportunity to learn in a professional environment alongside established stars.
With strong pedigree and high expectations, the next generation will now look to carve out their own names — not just live off famous surnames.
👀 Keep an eye on this group… the future could be closer than you think.
